Chapter 1728 Karo went into Hiding!
Chapter 1728 Karo went into Hiding!
After the final notification faded from his vision, Max remained standing in the center of the destroyed arena for a few more moments, allowing the last traces of crimson light to disappear into his body while the number of eight million Killing Points still lingered above him like a declaration no one in the Combat Hall could ignore.
The barrier around Arena Seven slowly opened, and only then did Max loosen the power raging inside him, letting the full might of five thousand Draconic Essences settle back into the depths of his body while the black dragon scales covering him gradually lost some of their overwhelming pressure, though they did not disappear completely.
He stepped down from the arena.
The moment his foot touched the ground outside the battlefield, many participants instinctively moved away from him. It was not because Max had released any killing intent toward them, and it was not because he had said anything threatening.
It was simply because they had all seen what had happened inside the arena. They had seen demons crushed with bare fists, an elf genius obliterated by Star Fist, and Karo's Pseudo Cosmic Path shattered completely before he himself was killed in one punch. After witnessing all of that, no one could look at Max as an ordinary participant anymore.
Max ignored their reactions.
His gaze moved across the Combat Hall.
He was looking for Karo.
Although he had killed Karo in the tenth battle, Max did not believe that the demon had been completely eliminated from the Eternal Hourglass. Just like the silver-haired elven woman had reappeared after being killed, Karo should still have more lives left.
If Max guessed correctly, Karo should have three more lives, which meant the demon should have revived somewhere inside the Combat Hall after paying the price of death.
But after scanning the demon side, Max did not see him.
He looked across the corners of the hall, toward the shadowed areas where some participants stood silently, toward the groups of demons who had gathered together, and even toward the distant exits leading away from the Combat Hall, but Karo was nowhere to be found.
The demons who had once stood proudly around him now looked tense and uneasy, and none of them dared to meet Max's gaze for long.
A faint sneer appeared on Max's face.
"So he is hiding really well."
His voice was soft, but the mockery in it was clear.
Karo had entered the arena with confidence, waited for Max to gather one million Killing Points, and acted as if everything Max possessed already belonged to him. Yet after being killed once, he had vanished so quickly that Max could not even find his shadow in the Combat Hall. The thought made Max's smile turn colder.
"Then he should keep hiding well," Max muttered, his eyes narrowing slightly as he glanced once more across the demon side. "Because if I see him again, I will kill him again."
The demons who heard those words felt their expressions stiffen.
No one dared to respond.
If another human had said such a thing after killing Karo once, the demons would have erupted in fury and ridicule. But when Max said it while standing there with eight million Killing Points, black dragon scales still covering parts of his body, and the pressure of his previous battle still lingering around him, even the most arrogant demons could only swallow their anger in silence.
Thinking along those lines, Max finally withdrew his gaze and walked back toward Nick.
The crowd parted wherever he went.
Some humans looked at him with bright eyes filled with admiration, while a few even seemed to want to speak, but none of them found the courage to step forward first. The elves watched him with complicated expressions, especially the golden-haired elven prince, whose gaze followed Max's figure with silent intensity.
The demons, on the other hand, looked at him with resentment, fear, and humiliation, but after what had happened to Karo, none of them dared to challenge him casually.
Nick was already waiting for him.
The moment Max approached, Nick's tense expression broke into a wide smile, and the shock in his eyes finally gave way to excitement that he could no longer suppress. He looked at Max as if he was seeing him properly for the first time, and although he had always believed Max was strong, the ten consecutive victory trial had completely shattered his previous understanding of that strength.
"You really did it," Nick said, his smile widening even more. "Ten consecutive victories, eight million Killing Points, and you even killed Karo in front of everyone."
Max looked at him and smiled faintly.
"That demon wanted my points," Max said casually. "So I took his instead. Besides, I already told you I would take care of him."
Nick stared at him for a second, then laughed under his breath.
Only Max could say something like that so casually after shaking the entire Combat Hall.
Behind them, the display above Arena Seven still showed Max's final result, and even though the trial had ended, many participants continued staring at the number as if they wanted to carve it into their memories.
[Participant: Max]
[Ten Consecutive Victory Trial Completed]
[Final Killing Points: 8,000,000]
Nick looked at the display again, then turned back to Max with a grin that he could not hide.
"Do you even know how insane that number looks?"
Max glanced at the display once, then shrugged lightly.
"It is only the beginning. I still have to kill Karo three more times and then there is also his brother Munro. I have to take care of him too. I believe they would deliver me a good amount of Killing Points for sure."
Nick's smile froze for a moment.
Then he shook his head and laughed helplessly, because after everything he had just witnessed, he could not even say Max was exaggerating.
Max looked at Nick and said calmly, "I am heading toward the exit of the city."
Nick's smile faded slightly when he heard that.
"The exit?" he asked. "Already?"
